Work in Germany on an Opportunity Card

The Opportunity Card is a residence permit allowing foreign nationals to enter Germany to search for employment. You can apply for the Germany opportunity card in the Consular Services Portal online or at the German embassy in your home country. While applying online, you can use a point’s calculator to determine how many points you will receive for your qualifications, knowledge, and living conditions unless you directly qualify as a recognized skilled worker.
A points system helps to determine whether you are eligible for the Opportunity Card based on your qualifications, knowledge, and living conditions. A minimum score of six points is required for this. Also, if you have a recognized vocational qualification in Germany, you can apply for the Opportunity Card as a recognized skilled worker without having to achieve a minimum number of points.

Candidates who wish to apply for the Germany opportunity card must meet specific eligibility criteria:

• Applicants must be a Non-European
• A minimum score of 6 points is required
• Proficient in English Language
• Two years of professional work experience
• No criminal record is mandatory
• Demonstrating sufficient financial resources
• Applications must be submitted through the German Embassy

There is no restriction of age while applying for the Germany opportunity card.
You will get additional points if:

• Age 35 and below = 2 Points
• Age 36 - 39 = 1 Point
• Age 40 and above= 0 Points
